Dave Fevre at the Injury Rehab Network
Sterosport were delighted to hold the fourth event of the Injury Rehab Network on Monday 25th November 2019. The event included a detailed presentation from expert guest speaker, Dave Fevre, the noted authority in physiotherapy and sports injury rehabilitation.
About Dave Fevre
Dave is a leading name in physiotherapy and sports injury rehabilitation with a career in professional sport spanning thirty years. Dave currently holds consultancy roles with several European, Premiership and Championship football clubs. To say he has an impressive CV would be putting it lightly, Dave has been chartered physiotherapist for Wales FC, Manchester United and Great Britain Rugby League, among others.
Professional Football Clubs – How do They Prepare?
The theme of Dave’s talk was Team Preparation in Professional Sport. This was extremely relevant to the attendees, including private practice and sports team physios and rehabilitators working in football, netball and rugby.
Dave provided the group with a fantastic insight into professional football clubs. How they prepare for and manage sports injuries to optimise performance. And how they use resources with maximum effect. Dave described how the whole of sports teams; including management, sports science, sports medicine, coaching and players can best work together to improve performance and rehabilitation times.
“I really enjoyed listening to Dave, a wealth of knowledge and experience.”
Stuart Irwin, Head Physiotherapist at Oldham Athletic FC
The talk started with a review of how sports medicine has evolved. He discussed the changing scale of backroom staff at professional football clubs. David provided several entertaining stories. All attendees were intrigued with his examples of professional clubs sports medicine teams, he focused on the following areas:
- Screening/ Prehabilitation
- Diagnosing Injuries
- Treating Injuries
- Injury Rehabilitation
- Return to Play
- Biomechanical Analysis
- Injection Therapy
The importance of exercise (or in scientific terms mechanotransduction) was detailed in both the prevention and treatment of injuries.
Injury Rehab Network – Would you Like to Get Involved?
The Injury Rehab Network is a group which offers professionals who work with sports injuries the opportunity to network. Giving the chance to share ideas and collaborate through regular free events. The group was established in early 2019 by Sterosport, an arm of Steroplast Healthcare. Sterosport is dedicated to the support of sports professionals in Manchester and the surrounding area.
An impressive keynote speech, delivered by a known authority or personality in sport is usually how each event begins. The focal point of each event (after the keynote speech) is discussion and facilitated networking for all attendees. Previous speakers include Hannah Dines, the Paralympian, scientist and writer.
Anyone professionally involved with sporting performance and rehabilitation from injury is welcome to attend. To register your interest or to find out more please call Andrew Watson on 0161 902 3030 or email andrew@steroplast.co.uk.
