Josh Quigley’s World Record Story of Setback to Comeback

Sterosport, the sports-focused arm of Manchester-based Steroplast Healthcare, has announced that Josh Quigley, an ultra-endurance World Record cyclist, will be the guest speaker for the next free event of the successful Injury Rehab Network. This free online event for sports injury professionals is taking place on Wednesday 2nd December 2020 at 7 pm, and is being delivered in collaboration with, and hosted by the British Association of Sport Rehabilitators (BASRaT).

As part of our mission to encourage the use of first aid kits for safer cycling, Sterosport Activ sponsored Josh Quigley’s North Coast 500 World Record Ride.

Josh only took up the sport of cycling four years ago, following a life-changing encounter with Sir Chris Hoy. Since then Josh has made a mental and physical comeback by overcoming depression and recovering from life-threatening injuries sustained after being hit by a car travelling at 70mph in Texas when on the final leg of Josh’s around the world ride. Josh’s plans to cycle around the world were hindered by COVID-19, so Josh turned his attention to his Scottish roots and took on the North Coast 500 – a 516-mile route around the Scottish Highlands! Josh was successful in breaking the World Record for the North Coast 500 in September this year, completing the route in 31 hours and 19 minutes.

Josh’s presentation is titled, “Josh Quigley’s World Record Journey – Setback to Comeback to… Scotland’s First Winner of the Tour de France” and will explore the mental and physical challenges he has faced.

The talk from Josh will include his story of how he got into cycling to overcome depression, his attempts to cycle around the world, recovery from life-threatening injuries, and preparation and rehabilitation in ultra-endurance cycling.

The inspirational talk from Josh will last around 40 minutes followed by time for questions and answers.
