The IV cannula with injection port is an intravenous cannula with an integrated injection port and valve for peripheral catheterisation. It permits needle-free administration of bolus medications during infusion.
The IV Cannula is designed for peripheral vascular access and features an integrated injection port, wings and a colour-coded snap-fit cap.
The sharp steel needle aids smooth insertion, while the third-generation polyurethane catheter is softer and more flexible for patient comfort. The self-activating safety mechanism helps reduce the risk of needlestick injury, and the needle safety guard encapsulates the needle bevel to help minimise blood exposure. A hydrophobic filter and cap help prevent blood leakage during cannulation.
The cannula is sterile, latex-free, PTFE, ported, winged and compatible with BD luer-lock
England Rugby, the NGB of rugby union requires that all teams carry IV cannulae as part of necessary first aid equipment . Consult rugby union and rugby league MME lists to find out about all other required items.
