Nick Worth — The Medico-Legal Field in Elite Football/ Sports — Injury Rehab Network

Nick Worth – Physiotherapist

Nick has been working in professional football for over 23 years. He is a highly experienced physiotherapist who has spent most of his career with Premier League teams. He was the England U21 Team Physiotherapist between 2000 and 2003.

As an expert witness, he has been involved in several high-profile medico-legal cases concerning Premier League players and staff. Some of these cases have influenced how health professionals manage elite-level athletes. Nick’s extensive experience in top-level professional sports, both in the UK and internationally, is matched by a professional, practical, and balanced approach to medico-legal work.

As an adviser to the Players Trust, he provides guidance on sports medicine and performance issues. The Trust supports young footballers, helping them safeguard their wellbeing and career development by addressing risks such as financial pressures, performance challenges, injuries, and education.

He played an important role in the medical team that helped Al Jazira, from Abu Dhabi, secure their first league and cup double in 2011. His experience also includes working with Bolton Wanderers, West Bromwich Albion, Manchester City Academy, Wigan Athletic, Fulham, Burnley, Sheffield Wednesday, and the Thailand National Team.

He is an experienced lecturer and leads a module on the MSc programme at Salford University. As a Fellow of the Society of Orthopaedic Medicine, he teaches physiotherapists and GPs manual therapy skills, manipulations, and injections. His work also includes lecturing internationally on sports injuries, musculoskeletal assessment, diagnosis, and treatment.

Nick’s presentation will discuss the medico-legal field in elite football/ sports.
