Mr Joideep Phadnis – Consultant Elbow and Shoulder Surgeon, Fortius Clinic

Joideep Phadnis is an experienced Elbow and Shoulder Surgeon who has an established tertiary level practice within the NHS at University Hospitals Sussex in Brighton. He has gained an excellent reputation for delivering high-quality outcomes, and his private practice sees patient referrals from GPs, physiotherapists, and other consultants both in the Southeast and further afield.

Joideep’s expertise encompasses the full range of elbow and shoulder surgery, including treatment of sports-related conditions, arthritis, and trauma. He does this through application of the latest techniques including minimally invasive surgery and computer planned surgical interventions. He actively participates in research and innovation, having published around one hundred peer-reviewed articles on topics such as shoulder and elbow replacement, tendon problems, elbow arthroscopy, shoulder and elbow trauma and patient safety.

He is a passionate medical educator, serving as an honorary clinical reader at Brighton and Sussex Medical School, an invited speaker at numerous national and international meetings, and a teacher to fellow orthopaedic surgeons. He is the director of the Sussex Shoulder and Elbow Fellowship and serves on committees for several international orthopaedic organisations including the British Elbow and Shoulder Society, ESSKA and ISAKOS.

In 2023, Joideep was awarded a National Clinical Excellence award for his dedication and contributions to the field, with particular reference to his endeavours in elbow surgery, which remains his most niche interest.

Joideep’s presentation will provide insight into the treatment and management of elbow injuries in sport.
