
Dr Ian Horsley, Shoulder Physio & Medical Officer to Team GB – Injury Rehab Network Event
Return to Play Testing Considerations for the Sporting Shoulder
Sterosport are delighted to announce the next Injury Rehab Network event in collaboration with BASRaT. Save the date (Monday 20th September, 7pm) for this online event, not to be missed by sports rehabilitation professionals and students.
The expert guest speaker will be Dr Ian Horsley who is kindly providing a presentation about considerations for return to play and shoulder injury rehabilitation. Ian was Medical Officer to Team GB at the Tokyo Olympic Games, is Lead Physiotherapist and Technical Lead for the North-West for the English Institute of Sport, Clinical Director of Back In Action Rehabilitation, in Wakefield, West Yorkshire, associate lecturer at Salford University, and member of the EdCom for EUSSER and BESS.
Ian worked as part of the HQ medical team for Team England at the 2010 and 2014 Commonwealth Games, was a member of the Team GB HQ medical team at the 2012 and 2016 Olympic Games and currently is a Consultant Physiotherapist to England Football.
He concluded his PhD in 2013 examining the issues around shoulder injuries in professional rugby, and has published several articles in peer-reviewed journals on the subject of musculoskeletal injury management, and contributed chapters to several books on sports injury management.
In his spare time, Ian is trying to learn to play golf, supporting Barnsley FC and spends some quality time with his wife now the children have grown.
Ian’s online talk ‘Return to play testing considerations for the sporting shoulder’ will explore various shoulder injuries, implications, and strategies for return to play. The event will feature a presentation from and time for questions with Dr Ian Horsley from 7pm – 8pm.
