Skin cancers are common, and the incidence is rising in most parts of the world. Sportsmen and women are at particular potential risk. Sports medicine professionals (physios, rehabilitators and therapists) can have an important role in education, prevention and early diagnosis; indeed some professional sports such as cricket and golf have already taken the initiative in this field.
